Our games

These are the collections that we currently have in circulation.
But we have more in the workshop and inside our head!

#1 Gargot of bicycle

This collection is dedicated to the bicycle, this wonderful invention that has so many roles in our society. It is made with old bicycles found in the green point or that diverse people have taken us to the workshop.

In our workshop, an old bicycle becomes a crane to go fishing in the river, or in a rare species of bird that lays an egg while flying. And, from a lot of old wheels, we make a labyrinth.

Sometimes an old bicycle supports a game and makes a table. Other times it is the support of several games made with bicycle parts, old tools of field or with kitchen utensils.

We play with all the pieces of the bicycle: the wheel, the handlebar, the pedals, the brake handles, the chain, the frame … All the parts of the bicycle suggest a game that, as always in Guixot de 8, It has a challenge to achieve, although it is not easy but not impossible.

This is the collection of Guixot de 8 that has more games, a hundred, although normally we only carry 37, which are the ones that fit in a van.

#2 Gargot de Joc: the other life of things

Now, each toy only serves for one thing and each command gives a single command.

This causes our imagination to become small without us noticing. So we have to stimulate it and look for a second life to everyday objects that we no longer use and that we had always thought were only useful for doing one thing.

It is a small revolution. If before a doll was used for everything: comb, bottle, dress etc and now you need a doll for everything, maybe it’s time that those things that we thought were only for one thing serve more.

With this idea Guixot de 8 makes its games:

  • With an old mattress he invents a new sport.
  • With a drainer makes a basketball.
  • Convert a bicycle into a bird.
  • With an ironing board it makes a racing circuit of thimbles.
  • A wood stove becomes a periscope.
  • The chain of a bicycle is a ground snake
  • A furnace silver becomes a tennis court.

#3 The playful tree, the spider,
the butterfly and the octopus

It is a strange tree, born from joining a bunch of curved tubes found in the collection center. Over time, at the end of the branches games came out, one on each branch. We baptized it with the name of a playful tree, in the same way that apple is called the tree that makes the apples.

Next to the tree appeared a spider that wanted to make a spider web, but seeing the games that the tree had in the branches, changed his mind and decided to hold a game with each leg, different from those that were in the tree.

After a while, a butterfly came, and when he saw the games on the tree he thought “I have arrived late, there are no flowers”, but he liked the idea and went to look for games in the workshop of Guixot de 8, one for each leg and now it’s next to the tree and the spider.

The feat of the tree, the spider and the butterfly came so far that an octopus heard it and decided to join them with a game in each tentacle and now they travel together bringing, between all, 35 games from one place to another.

This is the highest collection of Guixot de 8 and makes the public play closer to each other and the one that needs less space to mount it and the one that needs more height if we mount in an interior space.

#4 The Gargot of imagination

We are the ones who think that imagination is one of the few things that differentiates us from the rest of living beings and that, at the same time, is the motor that makes us move forward. That’s why this collection. To pay tribute to all those people who throughout history have stood out for their imagination and have left their mark on the history of art, literature, cinema, science or gastronomy.

A good part of the games in this collection have a human form and are dedicated to characters that without them the world would be a little worse.

Among them:

  • Antoni Gaudí
  • Joan Miro
  • Vincent van Gogh
  • Julio Verne
  • Leonardo da Vinci
  • Frida Kalho
  • Charlie Chaplin
  • Hans Cristian Andersen
  • Ferran Adria

And then, up to 25 characters that, in turn, are 25 games.

#5 Gargot of gym

In the collection come many home gym equipment: treadmills, exercise bikes, leg-building machines, sit-ups, etc. Most result of a good end-of-year purpose or the doctor’s recommendation that you have to exercise. But most of these devices have very few hours of use and some years of occupying a corner of the house until they end up in the collection center.

Guixot de 8 realized that here there was an important resource, either by the mechanism or by the materials with which the device is made.

All these devices that have had an environmental cost, both in manufacturing and transportation, make sense with the new life that gives them this collection of 37 games.

#6 The Gargot “picado”

We have resisted a lot to promote competitiveness. We think that society is already competitive enough to pass it to our games. But we realized that we could put a point of humor and thus invent a new sport made of 5 old. We play basketball, with a tennis ball, using the technique of billiards, hitting with a golf ball with a handle with a bicycle brake. A new sport, which will be Olympic in the next Olympics in which at thirty-some years old you are not expired and in which men and women play together, like life.

In the same way we have made several versions of basketball, tennis, different races: thimbles, ladybugs, balls etc.

This is a highly recommended collection for long duration events since the game is always new insofar as it changes the opponent or your dexterity.

This is a collection of 37 games in which 80 people can play at the same time. And as always to Guixot de 8 the games are very fast.

#7 Gargot of sculpture

With this collection we want to pay homage to the great sculptors of the 20th century, specifically those of art in movement, the so-called kinetic art. We have done the reinterpretation of some of his works but we have added a game, vindicating in this way the art in the street and that the art is also to touch and not only to look inside a museum.

We have versioned pieces, among others:

  • Alberto Giacometi
  • Alexander Calder
  • Eileen Gray.
  • Louise Bourgeois
  • Marcel Duchamp
  • Jean Tinguely
  • Pablo Picasso
  • Niki de Saint Phalle
  • Joan Miro.

The collection has a quarantine of pieces from 37 different artists, of which we move 30 that are the ones that fit in the van.

Each piece is accompanied by a panel with the name of the artist, a photograph of the original piece and the place where the piece is currently.
